All Achievement Plus tutors are graduates of a 4 year college or higher. Many of them are also certified teachers, but other qualifications are considered.
Christal Harkins graduated from Virginia Wesleyan with a degree in mathematics and has been teaching a variety of math courses at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake for 5 years. She tutors in the Hickory and Great Bridge areas of Chesapeake.
Evelyn Robinson is one of our elementary school tutors. She specializes in Early Childhood Education and recently retired from teaching 1st and 2nd grade in Norfolk Public Schools. Evelyn is available to tutor grades from Kindergarten to 3rd grade in Chesapeake and Norfolk, and particularly enjoys teaching math and reading.
Michelle Mummert has recently joined her mother, Helene Hendrickson, as a tutor for us. She graduated from Western Governors University in Utah and is certified as a Elementary and as a Special Education teacher. She currently teaches in Suffolk Public Schools.
Soulyvic “Soul” Luzaran is one of our newest tutors. She is certified to teach MS Science, Physics, and Gifted Students, and is currently teaching science at Lake Taylor MS in Norfolk where she was selected as Teacher of the Year. Soul is available to help students in Norfolk and parts of Virginia Beach.
Joe Smyder has tutored for us for 8 years after teaching at Greenbrier Christian Academy for 9 years. A former Navy surface warfare officer with a bachelor's degree in Physics and a master's degree in Education, Joe loves to help students in any level of math or Physics as is apparent in the Testimonials. Joe tutors in the Virginia Beach and Chesapeake areas.
Raiesha Smith has been with Achievement Plus for 5 years. She graduated from Christopher Newport University where she majored in Chemistry and earned a Master’s Degree in Teaching. Raiesha taught elementary school in Newport News, and recently moved to Portsmouth where she teaches now. She can also tutor high school math and chemistry. She is available to tutor in Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Suffolk.
Sandra Hall has bachelor degrees in Special Education and Secondary Math, a master's degree in Secondary Education, and is a certified teacher in Mathematics and Special Education. In addition to tutoring math at the elementary, middle and high school level, Sandra tutors American Sign Language and Adult Education..
Clarence Willis is retired from the Navy with a Master’s degree in Business Management, and completed the ODU Career Switcher program to become a certified elementary school teacher. He loves working with young children and has been teaching Kindergarten and 3rd grade in Norfolk Public Schools for 9 years. He is available to help children build a solid educational foundation in the Virginia Beach area.

Helen Clements graduated from James Madison University and holds a Master’s degree in the Art of Teaching, grades 4-6. She teaches in Suffolk Public Schools, and has 10 years’ experience teaching elementary school. Helen is available to tutor in the Suffolk area.
Jennifer Estrabrook recently joined A+. An ODU graduate with a B.S. in Biology, with a concentration in Marine Biology and a Minor in English, and a Masters in Secondary Education for HS Biology and MS Science, she currently teaches Environmental Science and Oceanography at Granby HS in Norfolk. She also has experience working with autistic children with the Southeastern Cooperative Educational Programs (SECEP). Jennifer is available to tutor in Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
